Handcrafted Drum Synthesizer Designed for Okay Temiz
This handcrafted drum synthesizer, specially designed for Okay Temiz, was built to be mounted inside the artist’s custom-made berimbau. The drum synthesizer can be triggered via a piezo sensor and is configured to be played directly from the berimbau. Additionally, a manual envelope gate button was added for use during sound design and testing purposes.
At the heart of the drum synthesizer are two sine wave oscillators. These oscillators interact with each other through frequency modulation (FM), producing rich and characterful sounds. An attenuator is placed between the carrier and modulator. The second oscillator is capable of operating at low frequencies. Additionally, an envelope generator is assigned to a VCA at the output stage. This structure allows for not only classic synthesizer tones but also a wide and diverse sound palette offered by FM synthesis.
The module also includes a noise generator, which serves as a creative element especially in percussion-based sounds such as snares and hi-hats.
Since the drum synthesizer is placed inside the berimbau, its external design was kept minimal and constructed using lightweight and durable plexiglass panels.
This drum synthesizer was entirely custom-designed for Okay Temiz to be used in his live performances. As VAEMI, we are honored and delighted to be part of this meaningful project.
This product belongs to VAEMI’s Custom category. While it is not available in serial production, similar systems can be crafted upon request. If you would like to own a unique synthesizer module designed to meet your specific needs, feel free to contact us.
